Welcome to Living Fiercely

Are you done letting trauma write your story?

Do you...

wake up in the morning, not sure if you even really slept. Did you dream? It's like your brain was running all night, maybe even with less than pleasant imagery. You're going through all the things you're going to have to deal with today, already feeling overwhelmed.

You put on a good face, pretend that you're not questioning every interaction, every relationship, and whether that sound you hear is a threat or just a nuisance. The overwhelm hits you more and the anger comes out at others, or maybe even turns in toward yourself. You beat yourself up, wondering why you can't get a handle on yourself instead of resorting to food, sex, anger, isolation, or whatever seems most accessible in the moment.

You end the day preparing yourself to sleep, almost dreading the next several hours because you wonder if sleep is even an option for you anymore, and knowing you have to do it all again tomorrow.

You're not alone

Trauma shows up in our relationships, our beliefs about ourselves, our sleep, and our coping skills. You can find relief from the grip life experiences have had as we work together to look at early associations and connections, build tolerance for triggers and regulation, challenge unhealthy coping skills, and empower your best self to take charge of being the author of your own life.

You may have experienced trauma if...

You feel stuck in what others think of you

Maybe you're worried about making a mistake, struggle saying no, or fear letting others down. You care, sometimes too much, about others and their perspective of you.

You use substances, TV/scrolling, sex, and distractions-

anything to get away from the discomfort or to numb it all together. Isolation, fantasy, insert unhealthy coping skill here!

You're still trying to figure out who you really are

Do you struggle asking for help? Maybe you don't even know what you think, need, or want. Sometimes you feel small and young and other times feisty and almost teenage like.

You struggle in relationships-

constant worry they may leave, self-sabotage, fearing you're not good enough, saying things you don't mean, patterns of toxic relationships, or avoiding relationships or trust-building with others completely.

Triggers feel like they take over

You can't get that thought out of your head, you feel suddenly irritable or angry, or you feel completely disconnected and frozen.

You're mindful of where you sit and where you are in the room

You can't have your back to the door, suddenly jump with loud noises, and hyperfocus on things that seem concerning, out of place, or familiar.

What we don't need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human

Brené Brown

What does it mean to live fiercely?

Dipping My Toes into the Uncomfortable

One step at a time, one day at  a time, knowing you won't have to do it on your own because we've got your back!

"You wake up each morning to face the same demons that left you so tired the night before and that, my love, is bravery."-Unknown

"Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow’"-Mary Anne Radmacher

Life is quite the journey! Living fiercely means daring to consider the uncomfortable, even if it's just with a toe in that direction. The uncomfortable can be scary, which is why we often avoid it. This time, you don't have to navigate the uncomfortable alone. Two of the greatest resources to help in healing are support and connection, especially through counseling.

Self-Empowerment
